Talented Saxophonist to Make Calgary Appearance
The Dino Dominelli Quartet will appear live at Beat Niq on Friday, March 28. The Edmonton saxophonist will be joined by Chris Andrew (piano), Rubim de Toledo (bass), and Tyler Hornby (drums) for the performance.
Edmonton multi-instrumentalist Dino Dominelli represents the talented younger generation of jazz artists on the Canadian music scene. Immersed in the foundations from post bop to modern jazz, Dominelli also has a keen interest in traditional and ethnic forms, merging them all into a new and distinctive style for his original compositions and fresh takes on jazz standards.
Dominelli has spent time in Toronto studying with Canadian jazz legends saxophonist Pat La Barbera and multi-instrumentalist Don Thomspon, and has performed throughout Canada, the U.S. and Asia with such internationally renowned artists as Piano Seven, Charles Blenzig Trio, Roberto Zayas, Lito Gonzales, Xioa Bai, Robbin Harris and Arturo Sandoval, popular artists such as The Shirelle Sisters, Bobby Cameron, Alfie Zappacosta, Bobby Curtola and Jack Semple, and Canadian jazz greats Don Thompson, P.J Perry, Bernie Senenski, Jake Langley, Simon Fisk, Earl Seymour and many more.
In-demand in his native Alberta, Dino is often seen performing with Edmonton and Calgary artists such as Sandro Dominelli, Jim Head, Wayne Feschuk, John Taylor, Charlie Austin, Chris Andrew, Rubim De Toledo, Andrew Glover, Dale James, George Blondheim, Andy Ericson, Brian Buchanan and Mike Lent.
