Cuban-Canadian Musician Tours in Support of New CD

The Alex Baro Sextet brings his spicy blend of Cuban jazz and funk to the stage at Beat Niq for one night only on Friday, April 11.

The Toronto based sextet is led by Alex Baro, nominated for three consecutive years (2005-7) for the National Jazz Awards ‘Best Trumpet Player’, co-winner of a Juno and recipient of a Gemini Award for his live television appearance with Toronto group Kollage. Baro has also performed and recorded with Paquito D’Riviera, NOJO, Hilario Duran, Omara Puendo, The Temptations, David Foster and many more.

Alex Baro is touring in support of his soon to be released CD From the Other Side, an exploration of his musical influences from the African rhythms of the Yoruba to his Cuban roots which are merged with jazz, blues, soul, R&B and funk.
