Contemporary Jazz, Funk & Hip-Hop Mark Quintet’s Sound
Vancouver’s Cellar Jazz is pleased to present New York funk/jazz ensemble Dapp Theory tonight, April 2, for one night only.
Canadian-born Andy Milne, pianist and composer, is considered one of the most important voices in the young jazz movement of today. Milne was awarded the Chamber Music America “New Works” commission (2006) and voted “Rising Star Keyboardist” by Down Beat Magazine (2004).
Leading the innovative Dapp Theory, Milne combines the talents of vocalist, MC and “percussive poet” John Moon, saxophonist Loren Stillman, bassist Chris Tordini and drummer Kenny Grohowski. The group, known for their creative, conceptual sound, has just released their latest CD, Layers of Chance, on ObliqSound on April 1, 2008. The album features compositions by Milne.
