Multiple Award-Winning Musician Tours This Summer and Fall

Cuban-Canadian pianist and Alma Records recording artist Hilario Duran will set out on a cross Canada tour for the summer and fall of 2008. The Hilario Duran Trio will perform at this country’s major jazz festivals and venues from coast to coast. This is the debut national tour as a leader for Hilario Duran, a multi award winning and internationally acclaimed Cuban-Latin jazz pianist, composer, arranger, bandleader and educator.

The Hilario Duran Trio features the highly acclaimed Canadian musicians, contrabassist Roberto Occhipinti and drummer Mark Kelso. The trio will perform classic Cuban and Latin jazz repertoire including Cuban danzon with essential rhythms from Afro-Cuban music like cha-cha-cha, bemb, mambo, son Montuno and elements of modern jazz.

The Cuban born musician is now based out of Toronto. Duran was recently honoured with a 2007 Chico O’Farrill Lifetime Achievement Award from Latin Jazz USA for his contributions to Latin jazz and Afro Cuban music. Hilario has also received multiple Juno Awards, multiple National Jazz Awards and is a Grammy nominee. In addition to the Hilario Duran Trio, Hilario leads the 20-piece Hilario Duran & His Latin Jazz Big Band.
