Grammy-nominated Musician Performs Second Show Tonight
Vancouver guitarist, vocalist and tunesmith Gaye Delorme performs his second show of the weekend in Penticton at the Dream Café tonight.
Switching between classical and electric guitars, Delorme brings his superb technique and wide-ranging musical influences to his performances, from the country stylings of Chet Atkins and Doc Watson to the Brazilian rhythms of Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Winner of the Alberta Premier’s Award for Excellence, Gaye’s musicianship inspired the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughn to label him “One of the best I’ve heard.”
A Grammy-nominated songwriter, Gaye scored films for Columbia Pictures, while his credits as producer include such Canadian superstars as k.d. lang and Jann Arden. He also co-produced several artists in Los Angeles with critically acclaimed composer David Foster.
Delorme’s discography as leader underscores his versatility and virtuosity, with titles including Blue Wave Sessions,” a work oft compared with Dire Strait’s Mark Knopfler; Borderline,” a country-rock innovation; Beautiful Guitar,” an international musical exploration of original compositions for Spanish guitar; Rodeo Songs, some kickin’ country comedy crafted around Gaye’s groundbreaking hit; and his most recent, a compilation of Gaye’s Best.
