Tim Williams, Ken Hamm and Michael Rault Headline Concert

Two of the nation’s finest blues players come together tonight when guitarists Tim Williams and Ken Hamm take to the stage at the ARTery for the Edmonton Acoustic Blues Summit.

The Edmonton Acoustic Blues Summit is the first concert to be offered by the newly formed EFG, or Edmonton Festival of the Guitar. The debut concert will pay tribute to the late Bruce Stovel, a CJSR radio host and concert promoter who is being recognized for his enormous contributions to furthering blues music in Edmonton.

Leaders in Canadian roots & blues music, Williams and Hamm are considered experts in the Piedmont and Delta blues styles and have been fixtures on music scene since the early 70’s.

Master musician, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tim Williams is renowned for his slide guitar talents and as a colourful raconteur. Tim is well versed in the Piedmont style.

Juno award-winning guitarist and songwriter Ken Hamm is considered one of Canada’s foremost interpreters of traditional roots and blues music and is known for his fingerpicking and slide guitar styles.

Opening the festivities will be local artist Michael Rault, recently featured at the Edmonton Folk Festival as part of the Under-22 workshop.

CBC will be recording the entire event for future broadcast on radio program Canada Live, which airs daily on CBC Radio 2.

Doors at the ARTery will open at 6:30 p.m., show at 7 p.m. Tickets are $13 in advance, $15 at the door and are available from Tix on the Square, Mhyre’s Music and Megatunes.
