Bay Area Sax Man Terry Hanck Performs Dance Party

“A fabulous entertainer, my favorite saxophone player.”
–Elvin Bishop

Calgary Blues Music Association (CBMA) is presenting the first event of the 2008-09 season with a fall dance featuring the Terry Hanck Band.

Bay area tenor sax man Terry Hanck, well-known for his signature mix of New Orleans Gumbo, West Coast Jump and East Bay Funk, leads his ultra-tight band in Calgary on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Inglewood Community Hall.

The fall dance party kicks off the Calgary Blues Music Association’s 2008-09 season.

Well-known in his own right for his soulful, powerful performances as saxophonist and singer, Hanck is perhaps most recognized as a veteran of Elvin Bishop’s band, with whom he toured for more than a decade before setting out in the late 80’s to tour under his own name. He’s also performed/recorded with Etta James, Sista Monica, Tracy Nelson and a host of other leading blues, R&B and funk artists.

Hanck will also host a workshop on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm at Cantos Music Foundation.
