Two of Alberta’s finest blues bands come together to perform for the Blues Bash Dance Party at Bonnie Doon Hall in Edmonton on Saturday, October 11 at 8:00. Edmonton’s Jimmy & the Sleepers and Calgary’s Bill Dowey & the Blues Devils will perform with the support of the Edmonton Blues Society.
Led by veteran guitarist Jim Guiboche, Jimmy & the Sleepers have long been part of the backbone of the Edmonton scene and are best known for their gritty, no-nonsense, genuine house-rockin’ blues. The release of their self-titled CD Jimmy & the Sleepers (2005) has exposed them to fans across Western Canada. www.jimmyandthesleepers.com
Bill Dowey & the Blues Devils have been a staple in the Calgary scene for decades and are considered Dowey’s debut CD Straight Up Blues, 9th & 4th pays respect to the band’s years spent as house band at the infamous King Eddy hotel (which recently won it’s bid to re-open after being closed for years) as well as their sound, straight up, pared to the bone blues. http://www.telusplanet.net/public/leahkm/billy/bio.html
