Lane’s Distinct Sound Gaining Attention Across the Nation
Saskatoon blues guitarist, songwriter and singer Megan Lane makes an appearance in Edmonton on Sunday, December 7th at Blues on Whyte in the Commercial Hotel. Megan will be appearing with her band The Squid and will feature material from her new album due for release in spring, 2009.
Born just over 20 years ago and raised in Saskatoon, Megan began writing and performing as a youth. She’s created a distinct style that blends blues, rock and pop, citing her musical influences as Jimi Hendrix, Fiona Apple, Jonny Lang and Jeff Buckley among the many.
The up-and-coming artist is quickly gaining a name for herself with headline performances at major festivals and venues across Canada.
Megan released her debut, the self-produced Purple and Blue in 2004, with her than-band Deep Set Soul. The album showcased her diversity as a musician and the depth of her passionate performances and earned a WCMA nomination for “Outstanding Blues Recording” . March 2007 saw the release of Wrapped in Plastic, an introspective album that highlights her song-writing skills in a blues influenced, rock and pop album of originals.
