Saxophone Greats Jane Fair & Jane Bunnett to Headline Event

Art of Jazz presents Music In Monk Time, an afternoon performance featuring the music of legendary jazz pianist and composer Thelonius Monk on on Sunday, Dec, 14 from 3 to 6pm at the Art of Jazz Salon in the Distillery Historic District in Toronto.

Headlining the concert are two of Canada’s finest female jazz artists, saxophonists Jane Fair and Jane Bunnett. Supporting players include Keiran Overs (bass), Mark Kieswette (piano)r, Norman Marshall Villeneuve (drums) and Larry Cramer (trumpet).

The event marks the first public performance in 20 years for the group. First formed by Fair and Bunnett in 1988 and touring major venues across Ontario, the ensemble is dedicated to the compositions of Thelonius Monk.

Jane Fair’s recent release Chances Are on Cellar Live received stunning reviews and made two of CODA Magazine’s critic’s top ten lists for 2007. Jane Fair was Jane Bunnett’s first teacher and is considered to be a groundbreaking female jazz artist in Canada. Their collaboration and contrasting styles are perfect for the music of Thelonius Monk.
