Students of Music Program To Present An Energetic, Diverse Concert
Grant MacEwan College presents its annual Showcase Band Concert on January 9, 2009 at 7:30 p.m at the John L. Haar Theatre in Edmonton.
Featuring two Showcase Bands along with MacEwan’s Guitar Band & Percussion Ensemble, the contemporary performance promises another sell-out evening of a highly energetic and diverse music by artists such as Marvin Gaye, Dave Matthews, Aretha Franklin, Earth, Wind & Fire, Etta James, Toto, John Mayer and Mary J. Blige.
Led by Grant MacEwan College piano instructor, Torben Holm-Pedersen and head of composition, Allan Gilliland, the ensembles are formed by students of the program. Each group is formed by four vocalists along with a rhythm section of guitar, bass,drums,two keyboards and six horn players. The performances are the result of competitive auditions and hours of rehearsal.
MacEwan’s Guitar Band and Percussion Ensemble will open each half of the program.
Advance Tickets: $10 adults, $8 students/seniors (55+)
