Randy Bachman’s Protege a Rising Star

Calgary blues guitarist and pop singer-songwriter Lindsay Ell releases her new CD Alone on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 8 pm at SAIT’s Gateway Lounge. The event is sponsored by 97.7 FM and Big Rock. Opening for Ms. Ell are the Matt Blais Connection and Joel Fraser.

Although she’s been playing guitar since she was a child, over the past few years the 20 year-old Lindsay Ell’s star has risen as she continues to work with mentor Randy Bachman, who signed her to his Ranbach Music label, and opening on stages across North America for music greats such as Chicago blues pioneer Buddy Guy.

The work has culminated in the release Ell’s debut solo album, Alone, which hits the market this week. The acoustic effort features Ell at her best – singing, playing guitar and performing her own songs. The album follows Consider This (2007), produced by Bachman and featuring a mix of originals and songs by Bachman, Sting and more.

Alone is a pared down sound that draws attention to Ell’s voice and impressive guitar skills, as well as showcases her songwriting talents. The artist took part in every aspect of the production of the album, from writing and arranging to producing, recording, designing, pressing, and more, bringing her authentic sound to the forefront.

Aside from her work with Bachman, Lindsay has also collaborated with Danny Michel, Russell Broom, Bill Bell, Damhnait Doyle; and has also shared the stage across North America with Suzie McNeil, Shawn Mullins, Serena Ryder, and blues pioneer Buddy Guy.
