Canada/Sweden Improvising Collective Performs in Intimate Setting
The Time Lies Improvised Music Festival runs this week in Vancouver, with three days of collaborative musical projects featuring eight Canadian and Swedish musicians, who perform Feb. 5-7 at Ironworks.
Headlining the event are free improviser Christian Munthe (Sweden), drummer Dylan van der Schyff (Vancouver), clarinetist François Houle (Vancouver), saxophonist Mats Gustafsson (Sweden), Per-Åke Holmander (Sweden), percussionist Raymond Strid (Sweden), bassist Torsten Müller (Germany) and cellist Peggy Lee (Vancouver).
The octet of musicians will perform improvisational music each night, showcasing different combinations of musicians and instrumentation, the event described as “a summit meeting” for the creative improvisers.
Established in 1988, the annual festival is presented by the Coastal Jazz & Blues Society.
