Jazz Guitar Giants Perform Rare Collaborative Concert

Internationally acclaimed jazz guitarists Bill Frisell and Russell Malone appear for a rare collaborative concert appearance at 8:00 pm on Friday, Feb. 27 at Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver.

Grammy Award winning guitarist and composer Bill Frisell’s signature sound can be found in a diverse range of collaborations with artists such as Dave Holland, Jack DeJohnette, Elvis Costello, Renee Fleming, Jim Hall, Norah Jones, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Frizell’s creative compositions explore a mix of rock and country with jazz and blues for a distinct, textural melieu.

Virtuoso guitarist Russell Malone is perhaps best known for his work with Diana Krall, but boasts a long list of credits including greats such as Jimmy Smith, Harry Connick Jr., Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Barron, and Aretha Franklin. Malone’s blues-tinged guitar swings with hard-hitting melodies and irresistible grooves.
