Scott to Perform with Jazz Is Resident Artists

One of the nation’s leading lights in jazz, Vancouver vocalist, pianist and educator Jennifer Scott appears in Calgary at Cantos Music Foundation on April 10 & 11 as part of the Jazz Is Society’s ongoing concert series. Joining Scott are the Jazz Is resident artists, John Reid (saxophone, flute), Simon Fisk (bass) and John De Waal (drums).

Jennifer Scott is familiar to audiences across Canada and the U.S. for her many festival and club appearances. The singer has shared the stage with such luminaries as Clark Terry, Tommy Banks, Don Thompson, Hugh Fraser, Skywalk, and Kenny Wheeler.

Jennifer has released multiple top-notch CDs, with Interactive (2008), Live at the Cellar (2007), Emotional Girl (2005),Something to Live By (2003), and Live at Monk’s (2003) making her one of the nation’s most in-demand jazz musicians.

She is also pianist/vocalist for San Francisco-based Novo Tempo, a Brazilian/jazz Fusion group featuring the music of Ed Johnson. She has recorded two CDs and toured extensively with this group, including dates at Dizzy’s in San Diego and Catalina’s in Los Angeles.

Scott has been involved in many New Music and Theatre productions, receiving a nomination for a Jessie Award for her performance in ‘The War of the Worlds’ (Rumble Productions) by Alex Ferguson and Peter Hannan, and was critically acclaimed for her performance in ‘The Gang’ (Vancouver,Toronto) by Tom Cone and Peter Hannan.

Scott has been featured on numerous occasions on CBC Radio’s Jazzbeat, Westcoast Performance, Hot Air, and was featured on four CBC produced CD’s. She was also a featured performer at the 2004 Glenn Gould Studio Concert Concert Series in Toronto (televised by CBC).

Jennifer’s Vancouver colleagues are among the cream of the crop of West Coast musicians, collaborating with such greats as pianist Bob Murphy, saxophonist Tom Keenlyside, drummer Dave Robbins and her husband, bassist and producer René Worst, among the many.
