Student Musicians Perform for Public

The Regina Jazz Society Student Big Band appears in concert on Friday, June 5 at the Regina Inn’s Cannington Room.

Marking it’s second year in the Jazz Regina outreach program, the RJS Student Big Band is made up of students from Campbell Collegiate, Luther College High School, Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School, Miller Comprehensive, Sheldon-Williams Collegiate, Greenall High School and the U of R.

Under the direction of Ian Tulloch and program mentor Brent Ghiglione, students rehearse once a week and perform publicly, including participating in the Downtowners Optimist Band Festival since its inception, receiving Grade “A” For Superior Performance both years.

RJS Student Big Band Directors

Brent Ghiglione is a well known and respected music educator who built an internationally recognized music program at Campbell Collegiate. He is the founder and developer of the Prairielands Jazz Camp which is now in its 15th year. Brent is currently the Director of Bands for the University of Regina and serves throughout Canada as an active clinician and adjudicator.

Ian Tulloch has started his 5th year of teaching school music. During this time he has taught High School Jazz & Concert Band, Elementary Jazz & Concert Bands. This year Ian will be teaching undergrad tuba students at the University of Regina. For the past 8 years Ian has been active as a performer both on tuba & bass trombone with the RSO, Bob Moyer Big Band, Lazerblade Orchestra and The New Collection.
