Veteran Bluesmen Perform More Than 100 Canadian Dates
Doc MacLean and Big Dave McLean are on the road again in 2009 with their National Steel “Century” Blues Tour of more than 100 back to back shows spanning 9 provinces and 2 territories.
The veteran bluesmen will make a stop along their impressive tour to perform in Calgary at Ironwood Stage, on Friday, October 23rd. In celebration of the second annual Century Tour, MacLean and McLean have released a live CD, Big Road Blues, a limited edition recorded and produced by Catherine McLelland for CBC’s “Canada Live.” The CD will only be available at Century Blues Tour shows.
In their 100+ up close and personal presentations, McLean and McLean perform all-acoustic songs on their vintage National Steel guitars and entertain audiences with colourful stories.
Big Dave McLean is a Juno winning, Stony Plain Records recording artist based in Winnipeg. His new acoustic release “Got ‘em from the bottom” is the 2009 WCMA “Blues Recording of the Year,” and was Juno nominated “Blues Album of the Year.” Big Dave was Maple Blues Nominated “Acoustic Artist of the Year” for the second year in a row, and this time was also nominated for “Entertainer of the Year.” Last year he won the “Lifetime Achievement Award.
Doc MacLean was recognized as “Acoustic Blues Master” at last year’s Black American Music Awards. He’s got a bunch of new songs you won’t want to miss. “An audio version of the movie, Sin City,” said Blues Revue. “The Master of Darkness.” His coast to coast fanbase will make the Century Tour a great success and a wild adventure. Doc now hangs his hats in Toronto.
