Latin Music, Dance & Food Make for Spicy New Year Celebration
The Brazilian Community Association of Alberta (BCA-AB) celebrates the New Year with a spicy Latin flavour in REVEILLON 2010.
With a Brazilian buffet topped only by the music, the annual event is a family-friendly affair. This year’s version takes place at the Acadia Hall, 250 – 90th Ave SW, with doors at 7:00, dinner at 8:00 and show at 9:00.
Featured artists include vocalist and dancer Dandara Backen and her band with Rod Ostrower (guitar), Vinicius (bass), Matt (drums) and Kevin (saxophone). Born and raised in Salvador, Bahia, known as the soul and heartbeat of Brazil, Dandara now makes San Francisco home. Dandara has been called the “Brazilian Tina Turner” for her energetic, contagious performances.
Also headlining is special guest bass and guitar player, singer and songwriter Paulo Padilha. Born in Sao Paulo, Paulo is known for his unique blend of traditional and modern Brazilian pop music ranging from rock to Samba-Samba de Roda. A gifted composer, Padilha is a recognized solo artist and in-demand studio collaborator.
Dinner music is provided by Calgary’s own, Shadoplay.
