Musicians Some of the Finest in Canadian Jazz
Prominent Vancouver jazz musicians Jennifer Scott, Rene Worst and Miles Black join in celebrating the release of two new CDs, Storybook and El Escorial on Friday & Saturday, April 9 & 10, at Cellar Jazz.
Vocalist Jennifer Scott marks the release of her new Storybook, featuring Scott’s vocals and the piano of Miles Black (piano). Considered by her peers and fans to be one of the finest jazz vocal improvisers in Canada, Jennifer Scott adds another fine recording to her growing catalogue of greats.
Rene Worst and Miles Black will also celebrate the release of their latest collaboration El Escorial. Worst and Black will be joined by drummer Dave Robbins for the event.
Rene Worst, an internationally known bassist and producer, is regarded as one of the most influential and leading jazz voices in North America. Worst has recorded and performed with numerous jazz greats, including Jack Sheldon, Tommy Banks, Herb Ellis, Freddie Hubbard, Ernestine Anderson, John Faddis, Don Thompson to name a few. Worst has recorded and produced 7 CDs for musical partner, Jennifer Scott.
Miles Black has a wealth of musical experience as an arranger, producer, composer, session musician, guitarist, bassist, saxophonist, songwriter, musical theatre director, music therapist and college level music instructor. Miles has performed on countless albums, and has played with many music greats around the world.
