Edmonton Jazzfest Offers Something For Everyone

This year’s Edmonton International Jazz Festival, running June 24 to July 4, promises another fine experience for jazz fans old and new. The multi-faceted event features jazz, Latin, gospel and funk in a range of formats from solo to Big Band and venues from intimate clubs to major theatres and outdoor concerts.

The range of international, regional and local artist roster features names such as guitarist Bill Frissell Trio and saxophonist Joshua Redman, as well as some notable pairings with legendary pianist Chick Corea in a double-header concert with Canadian jazz drum master Terry Clarke, and Canada’s newfound jazz singing sensation Nikki Yanofski opening for guitar giant John Pizzarelli. Known for supporting it’s local scene, the festival will also feature a host of Edmonton jazz musicians such as Bob Tildesley, Chris Andrew, Charlie Austin, Wayne Feschuk, and many more.

In making the music accessible to all walks of life, ticketing ranges from the family-friendly, free all-day Saturday to the $99 Johnny Jazz festival pass and a $15 ‘cover by the set’ at the newly renovated Yardbird Suite.
