I don;t get it. Why are so many musicians dying this year and last? It’s a trip. It bothers me on a personal level. Some of them are killing themselves, which really is tragic, but no more tragic than this deal here. RIP Brother!

The first time I say Duris play was in Calgary when he was with Doucette. He changed my life for the better. I have nothing but respect for the man. He has it all. He is the musician’s musician and he is a very down to earth human being. God Bless him. Would have been awsome to see him play with Hendrix. Lord have mercy. He is an inspiration to me and will be always.

Bob Day was my friend, teacher and it is a great loss to our musical community that he is gone.
He was a very kind man, and a really good teacher, even if he didn’t think of himself as a natural teacher.
I went to the funeral, on behalf of my father as well, and it was very hard for me. I left early, not because I didn’t want to stay and visit with everyone, but I needed to sob for a while. I got a few looks from people, like, why’re you so upset? Bob Day was there for me and my Dad during a particularly rough patch, when I was just visiting from Toronto, and when I first moved to Calgary. His unconditional love stays with me always.

I was very saddened to recently hear of the loss of Bob Day. I had the pleasure of hearing his fine music as part of the Bob Erlendson Band at Marty’s Cafe in
Calgary twice a week for several years.
It is a great loss to the jazz community and myself
personally.

Dawn Alexis,
I couldnt’ agree with you more about her talent. Ms. Alexis has “power under the hood” and yet she has amazing control and subtlety. There is a theme of honesty that underscores the entire album - from the sensual to the hurt-full; all part of a life well lived. Ms. Alexis seems to share a piece of herself with every song. This lady is a true original and I hope we hear much, much more from her.

Hi Sorry for being ignorant. I was at Blue on Whyte in Edmonton back in October when one of the MC’s announced that James Taylor of the Twisters was killed in an accident. Evidently they were scheduled to play at Blues on Whyte in the next couple days. Is this the same James Taylor that recorded many records, like Brown Eyed Girl, Just call My name and so on? Please let me know, can there be 2 James Taylors?? Thanks for your help

Hello, Dave. This is David French, son of Bob and Sara French of Denman Island. I’m sorry for what happened, and I’m sorry for what you are now going through. There is a group of musicians in Toronto who want to help: We are holding a benefit to raise money for Carla and Rebecca. It will be:

Monday/November 28th,
5:00-9:00 PM,
the Tranzac Club
292 Brunswick Ave.
Toronto.

Several good musicians offered to play (most of them knew James), so we’ve got a fine band. I’ve been calling around trying to find out who the Twisters were connected with in Toronto to make sure they know about the event and can come support it. Let me know if there is anyone you’d like for me to contact. I will send you the proceeds from the event on November 29th.

James and I were friends since I was a teenager. It is difficult to understand that he is gone. Despite the damage that you and the group have sustained I’m grateful that James’ friends and bandmates did not have to share his path.

Please don’t feel a need to respond to this until after you’ve taken whatever time is necessary to improve your health and well being.
